Roller arrangement affects manoeuvrability and the manner in which transport frames move. The most common arrangement is two swivel castors and two fixed castors with the same height.
1. Three swivel castors with the same height
Can be easily moved in all directions,
Bad directional stability,
Low load-bearing capacity,
Can tip easily in this arrangement.
2. Four swivel castors with the same height
Very mobile,
Well-suited to narrow corridors,
Bad directional stability,
High load-bearing capacity.
3. Two swivel and two fixed castors with the same height
The most common arrangement,
Good directional stability,
Good manoeuvrability,
Bad manoeuvrability in narrow corridors
4. Four fixed castors, with 2 fixed castors with larger Ø
Good directional stability,
Cheap alternative,
Good manoeuvrability
Arrangement tends to tip easily.
5. Two swivel and two fixed rollers with larger Ø
Good directional stability,
Very easy to manoeuvre,
For use on level flooring where possible as this arrangement tends to tip.
